| The Steampunk Fairy Dress

Steampunk is a style that combines the
Victorian Era with modern technology. It is applied to everything from modified
electronics, clothing and music. To see some amazing stuff, just Google
"steampunk."
This is how I translate Steampunk into a fairy costume.
While the possibilities for this dress are endless, (add a cool women's
top hat and cane, wear it as it is, etc.), but my vision of it is as a Steampunk
Angel or Fairy.
Corseted Bodice
The bodice of this dress has a fully
boned, lace-up corset. It is very supportive. The bodice is made of a beautiful
gold and black striped silk chiffon. The sleeves are elasticized and can be worn
on or off-the-shoulder. The back of the bodice laces up with a white satin
ribbon and has a white "modesty panel" behind the lacings.
Full, Bustled
Skirt with Brass Rivets
The skirt has layers and layers of tulle and is fully
lined. It is draped with brown taffeta that bustles in the back. The front edges
of the taffeta have been riveted with antique brass rivets.
